Make way for peppers

Remember those alliums we told you about? It’s time to transplant them out! We are growing an acre and a half of alliums this year, which translates to tens of thousands of plants. It will be many labor hours up front for this season’s worth of shallots, leeks, red and sweet onions.

Meanwhile, we are getting ready to repurpose the hoop houses for their next residents: peppers! Our bell and Italian sweet pepper varieties were a high-yield, low-maintenance crop for us last season and we are hoping for another big year.  We are introducing a couple of newbies (and old friends) to our pepper line-up, including Lunchbox sweet peppers, jalapenos and shishitos. We hope to have peppers as a staple in your boxes from August into October. Stay tuned!
