Fall Farm Adventures

Fall Farm Adventures
These guided farm adventures take kids through our fields on a scavenger hunt for the six plant parts—roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. When we find the plant parts, we harvest and eat them! Kids tour the Kids’ Farm in small groups with their own farmer educator and take home a sugar pie pumpkin.

Who: Preschool – 5th grade

When:  Mid-September – mid-November

Monday – Friday

Program times: 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 12:30 pm

Fall Adventure programs are approx. 75 minutes.

NOTE: If your group is larger than 50, you will need to reserve two consecutive time slots.

  • Sing songs, explore the Kids’ Farm, and enjoy the Living Playground with your farmer educator
  • Harvest and eat seasonal fruits and vegetables right from our fields!
  • Observe the wild critters, big and small, birds, bugs, bees and butterflies that call Oxbow home.

The cost for groups of 1-15 students is $120. Groups larger than 15 are welcome at a graduated cost. Click here for 2016 program costs

We are using our West Entrance for field trips. Google Maps will not send you to the right place! See directions here.

Interested in MORE inspired Oxbow Education? Sign up for the Pumpkin Package and get a deal!

The Pumpkin Package is a three-part series that allows your class to see how Oxbow changes over the season.

The program unfolds over the course of a school year. It begins with a fall visit to the farm, followed by a winter farmer visit to your school, and ends with a return visit to Oxbow in the springtime. The three progressive lessons help students understand how nature’s cycles mimic the changing seasons, and how people are connected to the earth through the food that we eat.

Here’s the deal: Fall field trip + winter farmer visit = 50% off your spring field trip

SCHOLARSHIPS: If field trip costs pose a hardship, please contact us at education@oxbow.org for scholarship information.
