Expert Tour #2: Natural History of the Snoqualmie Valley

June 2, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Description

Have you ever wondered what processes shaped the Snoqualmie Valley and the hills and river courses of Western Washington? Do you wonder what our landscape looked like before Europeans settled here, or how a forest recovers from disturbances like logging or fire?

Join Matt Distler, staff ecologist at Oxbow Farm & Conservation Center, for a walk in the woods and a trip through time. We’ll see evidence of past land use, learn native plants that tell a story about their place in the world, and consider the ways that our own land stewardship directs the future of this beautiful valley.

This is a walking tour, so please be sure to wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. The tour will be held rain or shine! Bring a notebook/pencil if you wish to take notes.

*This tour is led by Oxbow’s Staff Ecologist, Matt Distler, PhD.
