Expert Tour: The Ins & Outs of Spring Planting

May 5, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Description

Oxbow’s expert farm team will give you an in-depth look at springtime on an organic farm. You will explore Oxbow’s propagation areas, learning how our farmers grow healthy transplants early in the year, and then prepare those starts for spring planting. The tour will then move out into the fields and look at how an organic farm in the Snoqualmie Valley plants and seeds using appropriate technologies and a bit of elbow grease.

Key Topics Covered:
• Early-season transplant production
• Greenhouse technology and operation
• Planting techniques
• Mechanical and non-mechanical transplanting
• Direct seeding techniques and theory
• Crop care in the field

This tour is led by Oxbow’s Farm & Garden Manager, Kevin Haggerty.
