This summer, Oxbow partnered for four weeks of summer camp with our neighbors in the Valley, Wilderness Awareness School. For four years, WAS and Oxbow have joined forces for Farm and Forest Camps–day camps for kids that apply WAS’ nature connection philosophy on our vegetable farm.
Farm and Forest camps are unique in their child-led structure. Rather than a full schedule of pre-planned activities, Farm and Forest days are different for each group. Instructors facilitate opportunities for campers to learn about and experience the magic of our farm. On a typical day, a camper might plant a row of cabbage, dig for potatoes and carrots for a big soup, and play hid-and-go-seek in the rhubarb patch.
At the end of the week, campers are treated to a hay ride and throw a surprise farmer’s market for their parents.
