Oxtober Pumpkin Festival Activities
The Farm Stand and U-Pick Pumpkin Patch are open Thursday – Sunday, October 2 – 30. Full festival activities take place on weekends. See below for full details!
Thursday – Sunday
U-pick pumpkins: Our pumpkin patch is overflowing with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, all grown organically and cared for by our hardworking crew.
Farm Stand: In addition to pumpkins, we are selling a variety of our finest fall produce. Goods will depend on the harvest, but we will have reliable winter squash, greens, and other root crops throughout the fall.
Native plant sales: Oxbow’s Native Plant Nursery produces hundreds of varieties of Washington State native plants for restoration and landscaping. Fall happens to be a perfect time for planting! Peruse a selection of our most popular native plants at the Farm Stand.
House of Hay: Always a crowd-pleaser, the House of Hay is a castle built from straw bales, located inside our propagation house. This is our rainy day playhouse with indoor picnic tables, and enough nooks and crannies to keep kids happy for hours, nay, days.
Kids’ Farm: The Kids’ Farm is our 1-acre educational farm, separate from our production fields and the hub of all our educational programming. The Kids’ Farm and all its trappings are open for free exploration all day.
Living Playground: Oxbow’s living playground is an all-natural play area for kids with tunnels, domes, and a tee-pee covered in gourds, beans, hops and other greenery.
Climbing Tractor: Perhaps Oxbow’s most popular attraction, the Climbing Tractor is a REAL farm tractor that has been retired, repainted, and repurposed as a dream-come-true for kids big and small. Nothing compares to the feeling of sitting in the driver’s seat!
Picnic: Oxbow has several indoor and outdoor picnicking areas in and around the Kids’ Farm. Picnic tables are first come, first serve.
Saturday & Sunday only
Oxtober weekends are abuzz with activities for kids and adults! Activities use a magic bean currency where indicated. Magic beans are available for purchase in several places around the farm. 1 bean = $1 (approximately)
Beer & Wine Garden: Stay a while! Soak in the fall atmosphere with a glass of wine or beer and enjoy our live music. (5 beans per glass)
Live Music (11-4): A great variety of local bands will be bringing the twang to Oxtober this season! Highlights include Tinkham Road, Baby Gramps, Ricky Gene Powell & Acoustic Laboratory, Dysfunction Junction Bluegrass, Squirrel Butter, and The Honky Tonkers. Click here for a full schedule!
Food Trucks: Get your sweet and savory fix with our local food trucks! Cash and card only.
Hayrides: There is a lot more to Oxbow than our pumpkin patch! Take a guided tour of our 230-acre property and learn about how we grow food and protect our land. Hayrides are every hour, on the hour. The last hayride is at 4:00. (1 bean per rider)
Pumpkin Sling King: Oxbow’s pumpkin sling-shot IS as fun as it sounds. It will excite your inner child and test your aim. (1 shot = 1 bean. 3 shots = 2 beans)
Farm Tours for Kids: Our farmer educators are leading 1-hour tours around the Kids’ Farm every weekend day! These 6-plant-part scavenger hunts will take kids on a hunt for roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds. When we find the plant parts, we eat them! Tours are offered on a drop-in basis at 11:30 and 1:30. To schedule a special tour for a group, contact us. (5 beans per child)
Arts And Crafts: Seasonal, farm-themed arts and crafts will be be available all day! (variable cost depending on project)
