Farm-to-School: Partnering for healthy kids, healthy farms, and a healthy environment

A supporting partner in the National Farm to School Network, Oxbow is committed to changing kids’ relationship with food. Every year thousands of kids discover new foods and learn about farming and stewardship through our year-round education programs on the farm, in the classroom, and in the lunchroom.

We’re also partnering with SnoValley Tilth, the Snoqualmie Valley Farmers Cooperative, and school districts to get more locally-grown vegetables in school meals.* On the school side, we’ve developed nine Harvest of the Month (HOM) packets and are collaborating with other farm-to-school advocates to produce a comprehensive HOM toolkit for Washington State. With farmers, we’ve focused on food safety preparedness. With technical assistance from a food safety expert and the Washington State Department of Agriculture, we’re helping several local farms to develop food safety plans and to prepare applications for food safety certification.
