Fall Farm Adventures

Fall Programming Update

Registration for Fall Farm Adventures is closed for 2020, but don’t despair! We have two exciting new programs to keep you connected to Oxbow.

Families/Small groups: Our new Family Farm Adventures offer a safe Oxbow experience that gets the whole family outdoors and digging in to food, farming, and nature!

Classrooms/Larger groups: Enhance your class’s science learning with our new Virtual Farm Adventures! Get a behind-the scenes tour of our kid-friendly organic vegetable farm, with plenty of opportunities to engage with our Farmer-Educators and ask questions!

Fall Farm Adventures are closed to registration in 2020, but you can still read our program description below!

Oxbow’s guided farm adventures take kids through our fields on a scavenger hunt for the six plant parts—roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. When we find the plant parts, we learn their function, then harvest and eat them! Students even get to participate in a real farm project: collecting and sorting seeds! Students tour the Kids’ Farm in small groups with their own farmer educator and take home a sugar pie pumpkin. To get more information about our Fall Farm Adventures, you can access our at-a-glance program outline to plan ahead. * We try to meet your needs by refreshing our our adventure programs every year!

Highlights

  • Learn about plant structures and their function in making energy for themselves and the animals that eat them!
  • On a snacking tour through the farm fields, harvest tasty fruits and vegetables, including pulling your own carrot right from the organic soil!
  • Discover how new life emerges at the end of a plant’s life cycle while collecting and sorting colorful and unique seeds, and even find a seed to taste!
