Summer Camps Pre Covid

Important COVID-19 Summer Camp Update

The health and safety of our staff and campers is Oxbow’s biggest priority. We have assessed CDC and American Camp Association guidelines for operating COVID-19-safe summer camp programs, and have done significant work on our own policies, protocols, and emergency response. As a result, we have come to the incredibly difficult decision that camp will not be held this summer for campers ages 4-10.

While the measures necessary to hold a safe and meaningful camp experience would not be successful with larger groups of our youngest campers, we are still actively planning to hold our much smaller Dig Deeper camp sessions with older campers ages 11-14.

Bring a taste of the farm to your home this summer with the Oxbow Adventure Package!
As an alternative to in-person camp, all current camp registrants and the public are invited to participate in the Oxbow Adventure Package – an innovative way to experience the fun of Farm Camp at home this summer! Enjoy hands-on activities, arts & crafts, stories & songs, and a safe, one-time family visit to the farm. >>Learn more here.

All current registrants have been alerted of camp changes via email; however, if you are a current registrant and have not received an email from us, please reach out at View our cancellation policies and other policies here. We remain closed to new registrations at this time.

Feeling sun-warmed soil on your hands. Hearing the soft flutter of hummingbird wings. Tasting a crisp carrot plucked right from the earth. Observing a fuzzy bumblebee laden with pollen, resting on a flower petal. These moments ignite curiosity in young minds and bodies while laying the foundation for life-long connection to the natural world!

Oxbow’s week-long Summer Farm Camps immerse kids in the magic and discovery of nature on an organic vegetable farm and conservation center. Oxbow’s kid-friendly farm fields, forests, and wetlands set the stage for campers to play in, learn about, and connect to the Earth in a safe and inclusive setting. With guidance from our team of experienced environmental educators, Oxbow Summer Camps:

  • Spark creativity through art, stories, songs, and child-led play
  • Connect kids to their food by harvesting and eating farm-fresh fruit and veggies
  • Equip children with tools to care for, better understand, and talk about the health of our environment

Oxbow offers camps for ages 4 to 14! All camp sessions are adapted to fit the needs of each age group. Campers are encouraged to join us for multiple sessions!

Oxbow’s one-acre Kids’ Farm and one-of-a-kind Living Playground are built, planted, and maintained with kids in mind. Our Summer Camp instructors, all CPR/First Aid certified, are trained in inquiry-based environmental education and in facilitating nature connections for children of all ages. Camp groups maintain an 11:1 camper-to-instructor ratio, and are also joined by at least one support volunteer for the entire week. Our “Dig Deeper” camp sessions for pre-teens will be limited to 10 campers each, supported by education program staff and volunteers.

2020 Summer Camp Sessions

Across all sessions, campers will experience:

  • Fairy, gnome, and animal home building
  • Storytelling, songs, and team building
  • Hands-on activities and crafts
  • Nature connection games and creative play
  • Harvesting and eating fresh farm foods

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: unlock the hidden powers of plants and give a voice to the unsung heroes of our farm fields and the habitats beyond!

Work with new friends throughout the week to harvest and prepare fresh farm snacks, gain wisdom from plants and farmers, and discover how plants are used for food, fiber, medicine, and more. Take on the challenge to reduce food waste and recycle plant power through composting practices. Share your own plant knowledge and make signs to help keep all of Oxbow’s plant superheroes (and their helpers!) safe. Celebrate together with a mid-week plant party, complete with the sharing of plant-based presents made by you! The week ends with a plant-filled, camper-led farmers market where families are invited to “shop” for free!

Farm Chefs: From Seed to Table
To complete your day of Oxbow Summer Camp, join the Seattle Cucina Cooking School chefs in cooking, playing, and exploring after camp hours! Campers will gain invaluable culinary skills from expert chefs and work individually or in teams to create and share wholesome meals each day. Using ingredients harvested fresh from the garden, whip up hands-on recipes like dumplings, creative salads, desserts, and full meals. On the very last day, after the camper-led farmers market, parents and families are invited to join their campers for a meal at a kid-created “restaurant!”

By the end of the week-long program, campers will have the practical skills needed to participate in cooking at home, along with knowledge about wholesome, nutritious, and sustainable food. The price of $175 per participant includes art projects, games, and 1-2 large snacks or a meal each day. Remember, this option is only available to campers participating in the July 6-10 and August 10-14 sessions. Be sure to read our Policies Page carefully for cancellation information.
