Expert Tour #5: Birding Excursion #1

October 6, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 10:30 am

Learn how to identify birds on a slow stroll around the farm, through the forest edges, and along the Snoqualmie River. Learn not only the names of bird species, but also the behaviors that make them recognizable, and the general bird shapes and traits that certain bird families will have. Try your hand at identifying the birds that can be heard, but not seen.

Get a feel for using bird guides to easily identify birds found in your own backyard or neighborhood trails, and discuss the kinds of bird behaviors that are expected at this time of year.

This a walking tour, so please be sure to wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. The tour will be held rain or shine! Bring binoculars if you have them, a notebook/pencil, and any portable bird guides that you would like to use.

Please note: Unlike our other expert tours, this tour will begin at 8:00am! You know what they say about early birds…

This tour is led by Oxbow’s Restoration Technician & Volunteer Coordinator and resident bird expert, Dawn Huss.
