Savoring the Season… Or why I don’t eat strawberries in December.

It’s because they don’t taste good! In any month other than June or July (or, May when the in-season berries from California arrive and they entice me with their sweet perfume) they are hard, pithy and flavorless. You might as well stick and wick in one and call it a candle. To me the strawberry is the poster child of why one would want to eat seasonally and locally. By now you have enjoyed the ripe strawberries that came in your box last week — super sweet, fragrant and so juicy that the juice ran down my chin when I bit into one…. click here to read the entire newsletter.
