Native Plant Nursery Flood Recovery Volunteering
Help Restore Oxbow’s Native Plant Nursery
Clean, dig, and help restart safe plant production to support healthy ecosystems across the Cascadia region.
In December, record flooding submerged the Snoqualmie Valley, including Oxbow’s 5,000-square-foot Native Plant Nursery. Production of over 42,500 plants has been heavily impacted, with more than a third lost, and tools and materials potentially exposed to microbial, fungal, and inorganic contaminants. Now, as recovery begins, your help can restore this vital growing space to safe and thriving production.
Details
When:
Tuesday, January 20–Friday, January 23
Anytime between 10AM–4PM
(3-hour minimum shift preferred)
Who:
Ages 18+
No limit to group size, there’s plenty of work to go around!
Tasks:
- Relocating plant pots and trays
- Shoveling and redistributing potting media
- Sanitizing tools and materials
- Replanting nursery beds
- And more hands-on work
What to Bring
- Clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty
- Snacks and water bottle
We’ll provide protective gear, tools, guidance, and gratitude.
