Join us for a hands-on professional workshop designed for land managers, conservation practitioners, nursery specialists, and restoration professionals. This full-day program combines an in-field restoration site tour with technical training in native seed harvesting, cleaning, and storage.

This tour will showcase how ecological restoration can coexist with working lands. You will tour a site where agriculture is integrated with native habitat restoration, demonstrating strategies for balancing crop production priorities with your restoration goals.
A key feature of the tour includes an assisted migration planting project—an experimental planting design where native plants grown from seeds of southern ecotypes are being trialed to prepare landscapes for shifting climate conditions. We’ll discuss the methods for selecting, planting, and monitoring plant materials from non-local seed sources to be used in regional restoration projects.

In this technical workshop, you will gain hands-on experience with seed cleaning and processing techniques used in professional native plant nursery settings. The session will cover species-specific approaches to separating, cleaning, and preparing native seed. The workshop emphasizes sustainable seed harvesting techniques and practical skills that can be directly applied used on small and medium size nurseries.

This event is held in collaboration with Northwest Natural Resource Group and other Puget Sound Seed Partnership collaborators.
