Join local microbaker Jessica Sherrow of Pennyloaf Bread Co. for an afternoon of small-batch breadmaking at Oxbow Farm & Conservation Center. You’ll learn the art and science of naturally leavened sourdough from start to finish—demystifying fermentation, working with fresh local flours, and shaping your own boule to bake at home. This warm, welcoming workshop is designed for bakers of all levels. Whether you’re a first-timer or looking to deepen your practice, you’ll leave with practical skills, new inspiration, and everything you need to keep baking: a fresh loaf, a proofing basket, and an active starter to grow with.
Jessica Sherrow (she/her) is the sole owner/baker/operator of Pennyloaf Bread Co. She is a former professional cook, self-taught baker, mom of two, and Seattle native with a degree in Biology and a deep love of microbes. She’s been learning and baking sourdough since 2012.
We’re excited to offer this workshop at just $5, thanks to generous funding from 4Culture’s Doors Open grant! This experience is valued over $80, but the grant helps us make it accessible to more of our community.
We’re deeply grateful for this support, which allows us to connect more people with outdoor learning experiences.
All participants must register in advance—spaces are limited!
