Strengthen the web of life by cultivating conservation-focused farming practices that weave soil health, food production, and biodiversity.

Explore lively farm rows and flourishing buffer zones, and witness firsthand how to farm for habitat as well as harvests.

Guided by Agriculture Program Manager Anthony Reyes, this immersive field walk will illustrate how Oxbow integrates conservation into food production—from soil health to buffer zones. You’ll gain practical tips, technical insights, and take-home resources to bring biodiversity-minded strategies into your own gardens, farms, or community spaces. Whether you’re a grower, steward, or lifelong learner, this tour offers an inspiring path toward more holistic, habitat-conscious cultivation.

Tour participants learn about biodiversity on a farm while a ladybug rests on a leafy plant, symbolizing ecological balance.

You’ll Experience:

  • Biodiversity-Friendly Farming Practices: Learn how simple shifts in farming methods can create space for life above and below ground.
  • Soil as Habitat: Understand how healthy soil feeds not just crops, but microbial and pollinator communities too.
  • Technical Insight from a Seasoned Mentor: Hear honest, experience-based advice from Anthony Reyes, a leader in organic transition and regenerative practices.
  • Tangible Takeaway: Leave with practical knowledge you can apply immediately, whether managing a few beds or an entire farm.
  • Peer Connection: Share ideas, challenges, and support with others committed to organic and regenerative growing.

About Your Guide:

Anthony Reyes brings over 16 years of experience at the intersection of food, agriculture, and social justice, having worked with nonprofit farms across the West Coast. He was honored as WaSHI’s 2024 Producer of the Year, recognized for his community-rooted leadership in soil health and organic practices.

Anthony serves as a Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP) mentor, supporting farmers across the region in their shift to certified organic growing. He’s the author of the Fertility Guide Companion and a frequent guest lecturer at seminars and conferences, including the Organic Farm School.

At Oxbow, we’re proud to celebrate Anthony not just for his accolades, but for the grounded, reciprocity-centered philosophy he brings into his practice every day. And honestly, we can’t get enough of his joyful tangents into topics including biomass and lignin content. His curiosity is contagious.
